First Doctor's Visit!
Friday, January 16th, we had our first doctor's appointment, which is where we found out that the baby is due on September 12th, 2009. On that day, I was 5 weeks and 6 days. We realize that it is still really early, and sometimes things can happen, so prayers are more than welcome. The doctor said that everything looks normal and we have no reason to worry about a thing. She scheduled us an appointment for an ultrasound for Monday the 26th and another regular appointment in four weeks. Also, I was reminded of my fear of needles that day. Apparently pregnancy requires lots of blood tests, which I have not experienced since kindergarten. Having such a horrifying memory of that day so long ago made me a little uneasy to begin with, but when I was sitting in that chair of torture, it all came back to me. The poor nurse had to stop half way through because I was passing out. She had Chase fanning me with a magazine and was instructing me on what to do with my stiff legs. She finished up on my other arm and for some reason, that side went much better. Thank goodness. :) I still have a huge bruise from the ordeal. Hopefully next time will go smoother.
Finally The Family Knows!
You would think that being married to Chase, I would know this about him by now, but apparently my husband cannot keep a secret to save his life. I wanted to tell my friends and family the big news myself, in person, and I told him he could tell his family and friends his way. Unfortunately, I dont live extremely close to my side, so I had to wait for the right time without giving anyone a hint that I had a secret. Well, let's just say Chase spread the news a lot faster than I expected. Can't blame the man for being excited I guess. Anyway, end of the story is, everyone knows now and we can live without the lies!!! YAY!
Just Got The News!
On Friday, January, 9th, I realized I was late. After 3 months of trying, I was excited to take a pregnancy test but had a feeling it would be negative again. Guess I was wrong. :) Chase had just gone to work and I knew I wouldn't be seeing him until late that evening. I wanted to see the expression on his face, so I didn't call him on the phone. I waited it out. Possibly the longest 8 hours of my life. I wrapped the digital pregnancy test that said "pregnant" in a little red box and tied a ribbon around it. When I came home that night, I dropped it in the bag of KFC (which I had been craving for a week). When he opened the bag expecting some fried chicken and mashed potatoes, he got more than he bargained for. He opened it and gave me exactly what I had waited 8 hours for. A look of pure joy and love. He held me for an eternity as we realized we were going to be a mommy and daddy. Wow. Life will never be the same again. And we couldn't be happier.
